MOLE REMOVAL

Cryotherapy with CryoPen® at Moreton Aesthetics

Cryotherapy is a quick, effective treatment that uses extremely cold temperatures to safely remove benign skin lesions, such as skin tags, warts, milia, cherry angiomas, and age spots. At Moreton Aesthetics, we use the precision CryoPen® device, which delivers targeted bursts of nitrous oxide to freeze and destroy unwanted lesions with minimal discomfort and downtime.

CryoPen® cryotherapy is non-invasive, fast, and highly accurate, making it ideal for treating delicate areas without damaging the surrounding skin.

Who is cryotherapy suitable for?

Cryotherapy is suitable for men and women looking to remove benign skin lesions for cosmetic or comfort reasons. It’s particularly popular with patients who wish to treat imperfections without surgery or scarring.

Can I get my mole or lesion checked?

Yes, absolutely. Patient safety is our top priority. If you're unsure whether your lesion is safe to treat, our Map My Mole service can help provide peace of mind.

Map My Mole is a professional mole-mapping service that allows assessment of any suspicious moles or pigmented lesions before treatment. If a mole appears unusual, we’ll advise on the next steps for medical referral or further investigation.

Where can CryoPen be used?

CryoPen® can be used on nearly all areas of the body, including:

  • Face (ideal for milia, skin tags, and pigmentation)

  • Neck and décolletage

  • Hands and arms

  • Legs and back

Its precision tip allows for safe treatment in sensitive areas such as around the eyes, nose, and mouth.

What can it be used to treat?

Cryosurgery is used to treat different types of lesions on the skin, such as:

  • Skin tags

  • Verrucae and warts

  • Solar lentigo (sun spots)

  • Pigmented spots

  • Seborrheic keratoses

  • - and many more

What are CryoPen® results like?

CryoPen® delivers impressive results with minimal discomfort. After treatment, the lesion typically darkens and may form a small scab before falling away naturally. Most clients notice a visible improvement in skin clarity and smoothness once the treated lesion has healed.

In many cases, the lesion is completely removed after just one session. Stubborn or larger lesions may require a follow-up.

What happens during a CryoPen® treatment?

Your treatment will begin with a thorough consultation to assess your skin and discuss your concerns. Once the lesion has been deemed suitable for removal, we’ll cleanse the area and apply the CryoPen® for a few seconds, targeting the lesion with a precise, super-cooled jet of nitrous oxide.

The freezing process causes the cells within the lesion to crystallise and break down. You may feel a slight stinging or tingling sensation during the procedure, but it’s generally very well tolerated.

How many sessions will I need?

Most benign lesions require only one CryoPen® session. However, depending on the size, depth, or type of lesion, some individuals may need more treatment after a review to achieve complete removal.

We will always advise you on the expected number of sessions during your initial consultation.

How soon will I see results?

Results from CryoPen® can be seen as soon as the treated lesion naturally flakes off—usually within 1 to 2 weeks. Some areas may take a little longer to heal, particularly if the lesion was larger or located in a high-friction area.

What is the downtime?

One of the key benefits of CryoPen® is that it involves minimal downtime. Most clients return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. You may experience some redness, swelling, or blistering in the days following your session, which is a normal part of the healing process.

We recommend keeping the area clean and avoiding picking at scabs to prevent scarring and promote healthy skin regeneration.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects from CryoPen® are rare but can include temporary redness, swelling, blistering, or slight skin discolouration at the treatment site. These typically resolve on their own within a few days to weeks.

In very rare cases, slight hypo- or hyperpigmentation may occur, especially in darker skin tones. We’ll discuss your individual risk factors during your consultation.

How long do cryotherapy results last?

Cryotherapy permanently removes the treated lesion. However, new lesions may form over time depending on your skin type and exposure to triggers like sun damage or friction. We’re always happy to provide follow-up advice and maintenance treatments if needed.
